Seven-Passenger Sedan
Bay State Automobile Co.
Framingham, MA
Seating seven persons in luxurious comfort, this sedan is the best example of fine coach work that our skilled craftsmen can produce.
As with all Bay State bodies, only selected straight-grain ash is used in building the frame. This wood is thoroughly seasoned in the open air before being placed in the drying kilns. All the parts are accurately cut to size before being assembled. All the joints are glued and also fastened with screws. The frame is then covered with 16-gauge. aluminum sheets, shaped and fitted by hand. The doors are also hand fitted. Then the painters rub and paint and varnish - nineteen coats in all - until the car has a finish like that of an exquisite piece of furniture.
The interior of the car is upholstered with broadcloth of the best quality the color harmonizing without the outside finish. The choice of color scheme is optional with the purchaser. The standard colors are blue maroon or gray.
The window regulators and other fittings are all of the latest design and strong construction.
But chassis has a wheel-base of 128 inches, giving ample room for the two auxiliary seats. The rear seat, 48 by 19 inches, is deeply upholstered over soft Marshall type springs. Arm-rests on each side, and a foot rest adjustable to two positions, further add to comfort. The front seat has the same kind of cushion as that in the rear, and is tilted at the right angle for the convenience of the driver and the comfort of the front seat passenger.
The slanting windshield with sun-visor, cowl ventilator, windshield wiper, and controls in close reach further add to the comfort of the driver.
The size of the plate glass windows is worth noting, as also the doors, which are 26 inches wide.
Notwithstanding the size and strength of the body and the long wheelbase, this Sedan is not heavy in weight or sluggish in action. So powerful and flexible is the 58-horsepower motor, that in high gear it pulls easily and smoothly at a strolling pace, or will quickly accelerate to over sixty miles an hour.
