Lexington, MA is a special place full of associations with the American Revolution. As with many early settled Massachusetts towns, you can enjoy the architecture of historic homes built over several centuries and landmarks found in every history book. The Inn at Hastings Park celebrates this in every element of its carefully curated presentation. An overall romantic vision, the Inn draws on its history and blends in some unexpected twists. This is evident the moment you enter and are greeted by a foyer papered in Revolutionary-styled profiles of flocked velvet. Quintessential New England from the outside, every room you enter tells a story of gracious living with custom variations that suit today’s luxury-minded guest.
Long Cadillac was welcomed by owner Trisha Pérez Kennealy and given a spectacular look at many of the amenities as well as the stories behind them. Originally built in 1888 as a private residence, the Inn’s property now also encompasses the Isaac Mulliken House, a private residence built in 1841, and The Barn, Mulliken’s former carpentry shop. All three were completely redesigned over a three year period leading up to the formal opening in 2014. An emphasis on American made luxury products, commitment to retaining significant original features and utilizing current local design talent keeps the tie between history and today strong.
Of particular delight was the Rockstar Suite with its impressive interior that magically manages to evoke both a contemporary elegance with a dash of Revolutionary energy. Maybe it’s the bold red accents against the navy grey walls, or maybe it is the star insignia wall hangings. Either way, it definitely feels like the pinnacle suite it is.
Perched above the larger suites of the main house we toured two lovely spa rooms. Cozy and comfortable, these rooms easily demonstrate how attention to detail enhances a space and makes it memorable. Rooms that cause a guest to exhale and relax as soon as the doors are opened can never be praised enough. And we can’t forget to mention the green sofa that graces the living space of the Isaac Mulliken House. Perfection!
After the eye-popping indoor tour, we took our Cadillac XT5 out for a brief outdoor tour of the beautiful and historically unparalleled Lexington town center with our knowledgeable guide Trisha pointing out the highlights. Guests of the Inn also have access to bike rentals to better explore the area. Trisha then graciously invited us back to the Inn’s restaurant for luncheon.
The Inn’s restaurant on site, Artistry on the Green, is an award-winning destination all in its own. Executive Chef Stacy Cogswell’s take on classic New England dining has a firm grasp on the ever changing produce each season brings and combines it with techniques and plates found around the world. We sampled some of the menu during our visit, but plan on coming back frequently for the Afternoon Tea served every Saturday.
