90th Donation Applicant: The Performing Arts Center of MetroWest

Founded in 1982, The Performing Art Center of Metrowest (PAC) provides high-quality performing arts education and opportunities to Framingham and the surrounding communities. PAC is committed to accessibility for people of all ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and stages of development, while maintaining reasonable pricing, inclusive programming, and need-based scholarships.

[endif]--The range of programs offered and supported by PAC is quite impressive. At our recent meeting, we were pleased to host Mary Opanasets, Executive Director of PAC and vocal student, Rachel Scanlon, PAC Board Co-Chair and parent of two PAC students, Theresa Waters, PAC staff member and daughter of former PAC Musical Theater Director, and Katie Broach, PAC Advisory Board member and professional vocalist. They were instrumental (pun noted) in bringing PAC’s 35-year history of serving thousands of students and providing excellent instruction unmatched in the Metrowest area to life. “With our multi-generation members and participants, one thing that PAC excels at is, the feeling that family matters,” explained Mary Opanasets.

Currently, PAC’s primary project is to find a permanent home, after being asked to vacate the town-owned Danforth building in September of 2016. PAC was graciously welcomed by St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church to temporarily rent space for music, theater and dance instruction. “Music, theater, and the creative arts are very important and much needed programs for our young kids,” commented Scott Barry, Long Cadillac Executive Manager. “Which makes the necessity for a permanent home most pressing.” Currently, PAC’s capital campaign has raised $60,000 towards their $200,000 goal.
